Citizens all over Dallas County visited their local voting centers to vote in the 2022 primary elections. Many important races were decided such as the Republican/Democratic choices for governor and lieutenant governor.
For Texas governor on the Republican side, incumbent Greg Abbott has won. On the Democratic side, Beto O’Rourke won and will face Abbot in the general election in November.
In the race for Texas lieutenant governor on the Republican side, Dan Patrick won with 76% of the vote at press time. On the Democratic side, Mike Collier leads at 41% at press time, and will likely advance to a runoff election in May with the still undetermined second place finisher.
In the Texas attorney general race on the Republican side, Ken received 42% of the vote and will face second-place finisher George P. Bush in a May runoff election. On the Democratic side, Rochelle Garza has 32% of the vote as Lee Merritt trails behind with 31% of the vote.
Dawn Buckingham leads the land commissioner race on the Republican side with 41% of the vote but second place is to be Tim Westley. The race on the Democratic side is much closer with Sandra Grace Martinez leading with 32% of the vote with Jay Kleberg behind with 25% of the vote.
The Republican race for agriculture commissioner was won by Sid Miller with 59% of the vote. Susan Hays won on the Democratic side, with 83% of the vote.
For Texas Comptroller on the Republican side, Glenn Hegar won with 83% of the vote. On the Democratic side Janet T. Dudding leads at press time with 46% of the vote.
Republican Wayne Christian leads the race for railroad commissioner with 47% of the vote. As for the Democrat’s side, Luke Warford received 100% of the votes.
For Dallas County judge on the Republican side, Lauren Davis won with 68% of the vote. Clay Jenkins won on the Democratic side with 87% of the vote.
In the Dallas County district attorney race, Democrat John Creuzot won with 62% of the vote while Republican Faith Johnson received all the votes.
In the Dallas County district clerk race, incumbent Felicia Pitre won with 58% of the vote.
The state board of education race for District 11 on the Republican side was won by Patricia Hardy. On the Democratic side, Luis Miguel Sifuentes will go up against James Whitfield in a May runoff election.
In the District 12 race, Democrat Roberto Velasco won with 55% of the vote as Republican Pam Little won unopposed with all the votes. A. In the District 13 race, Denis Russell will meet Kathryn Monette in a May runoff election.
The justice of the peace Pct 2, Pl 1 race on the Republican side was won by Stephen W. Stanley. On the Democratic side, leader Margaret O’Brien is headed to a runoff election in May against Atalia Williams.
