The Orchestra and Chamber Strings and guest artists took the stage at Richland’s Fannin Performance Hall Oct. 9 under the direction of Dr. Abel Rodriguez.
It was an evening of orchestra and chamber strings music. Guests from Brookhaven, Eastfield and Mountain View Strings performed, as did a dance company from Eastfield.
Upon entering, audience members were given a program containing information for the concert, as well as a schedule for upcoming performances.
The Faculty Brass Ensemble was first to perform. Slowly, all orchestra players and pianists came on stage to perform as well. In the middle of the concert, two students took the stage to read a poem. It was quite interesting.
It was my first time attending an instrumental concert. It was nothing that I expected. As a young person, I always loved playing and listening to music. So, attending this concert was exciting for my friends and me.
As the concert was about to end, the dance company from Eastfield joined the orchestra performance. I was amazed by how beautiful it was and did not think dancers would be performing, it was nice to watch. The makeup, the hair styling and the dancers looked very elegant. I loved every part of it and was very interested.
I was disappointed that the concert ended sooner than the scheduled ending. It was timed for 9:30 p.m. and ended around 8:30. I loved the concert, however, and I can’t wait to attend more on the Richland campus with friends.
