As summer approaches, Richland campus students are getting ready to find jobs for the break. The first step? Making a resume that shows off their skills and experiences.
Luckily, the Career and Transfer Department is there to lend a hand. If you don’t have a resume and have no clue where to start, head over to Career Services in El Paso Hall.
“We can help you figure out your resume, and help you figure out what type of career you want to get into,” said Ibraheem Bahbahani, a student assistant at the department.
With resumes in hand, students are ready to explore the job market. Bahbahani introduces the app Handshake as a game-changer in the search process. He speaks highly of the app’s partnership with Dallas College, which provides students with great access to job opportunities “Handshake is the best resource any student can use,” he said.
Bahbahani shared his own success story, accrediting his job on campus to Handshake. “The way I found this job was actually through Handshake,” he said to underscore the app’s effectiveness in connecting students with on-campus employment opportunities.
Handshake also extends beyond on-campus jobs, offering a wide range of internships and off-campus employment opportunities.
“Dallas College provides events where different companies come,” Bahbahani said. “You can look at the opportunities available, whether it’s internships or entry-level jobs.”
As students gear up for their summer job search journey, they’re accompanied by the support and resources offered by the Career and Transfer Department. Job services believes that with a well prepared resume and a Handshake profile, the process can be made easier.
