Construction continues on the development of a 30,000 square foot clinic on the Richland campus.
In partnership with H. J. Russell & Company and Parkland Health, Dallas College has announced plans to make empty plots on the northwest section of campus the home of the Richland Clinic.
Janet James, Richland Campus senior director of campus leadership, said, “There is a vickery clinic that’s right up the way down Abrams, towards Park Lane,”
“Dallas College was approached by Parkland to see whether or not we would be interested in engaging in a public, private partnership to provide the land, and location for the clinic.”
James said this new development will not impact Richland’s current clinic in Thunderduck hall.
“This clinic will be owned and run by Parkland. It will not impact our health services at all.”
“It’s going to provide basic services and that will not take away from if a student needs a vaccination here, they can still go to our clinic. This is solely run by Parkland,” James said.
“Its going to be on our campus because we have 243 acres. As you know there are lots of the acres that are empty, so we were approached as a prime location for this clinic in the area.”
An official opening date has not yet been released.
“If you were here when we built Red River Hall, sometimes there’s delays that are unforeseeable for whatever reason.”
“They probably have a desired date that they want to open it, because really, there are people now, because Vickery, they’ve outgrown it” she said.
H. J. Russell & Company, the construction company behind the Richland Clinic, has been responsible for overseeing the construction of many prominent places such as Mercedes Benz Stadium, The National Center for Civil and Human Rights and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.
They have not responded to requests for comments on the Richland Clinic. As development goes further, an official opening may be announced.
