Since 1965, Dallas College has assisted over 3.3 million students in the greater Dallas County area, celebrating a major milestone.
That is providing students with opportunities and excellence in preparing all students to enter the workforce with innovative ideas and in-demand skills that continue to inspire the catalyst that created the cornerstone of Dallas College.
Chancellor Dr. Justin H. Lonon said, “As we mark this anniversary, we’re simply reflecting on the past. We’re preparing for what comes next.
That’s why we’re shifting gears and accelerating into a bold new era.
Our founders in 1965 didn’t follow a roadmap, they drew one.
And today, that spirit of innovation, access and service lives on.
We are building a 22nd -century college, one that meets learners where they are, adapts to what’s next and leads with boldness.”
Today, Dallas College is fueled by the theme “Reimagining what’s next.”
We prepare for a future that honors our legacy of constant innovation in educating, empowering, and building Dallas’ workforce, according to the Dallas College press release letter by Chancellor Justin H. Lonon.
Dallas College has set a goal of enrolling 180,000 students annually by 2030.
In Dallas County, only 37% of adults hold a postsecondary credential — leaving nearly a million residents without qualifications needed in today’s economy.
Meeting that need is the college’s mission.
Dallas College is going all out, celebrating across all seven campuses through events this spring.
There’s also an exclusive 60th anniversary friendship bracelet keepsake available at each campus’ celebration, commemorating this major milestone and journey for Dallas College students, faculty, and staff to embrace and build on.
The bracelets are free and available to all, with a message: “DC 60 Years I’m Here 4 It.”
