Never leave your drink unattended. Make sure to go out with a group of trusted friends. Never go home with strangers, and keep your phone fully charged.
These are just some of the demands parents give when they send their kids off to college or to a friend’s house for a birthday party. Leaving a drink unattended can have irreversible consequences. It only takes a second for someone to slip a drug into an open can of soda. Being aware and watching your surroundings can save your life and dignity.
Combs was arrested after years of allegations of sexual abuse, assault, murder, conspiracies to commit murder, racketeering, sex trafficking and a slew of other crimes that may be just as long as his list of hit songs.
The music mogul, indicted Sept. 16 by a grand jury after months of speculation. Combs, 54, is the highest-profile figure in the music world to face criminal charges for sexual misconduct since R-Kelly, the R&B singer who faced charges of sex trafficking and is currently serving his sentence.
Combs, also known as Diddy, or Puff Daddy; is a music icon who changed the music industry by implementing new sounds into R&B and hip-hop. He paved the way for self-made entrepreneurs, philanthropists and business moguls alike. Combs started Bad Boy Records in New York City in 1993; after signing talent such as The Notorious B.I.G, Faith Evans, Ma$e, Carl Thomas and more. Combs has won three Grammys with 14 nominations; as well as hundreds of other awards, making Diddy one of the most decorated artists of all time. This arrest comes on the heels of CNN leaking footage of Combs physically assaulting his former girlfriend Casandra Ventura, also known by her stage name Cassie, in a hotel as she waited for an elevator to take her to the lobby, seemingly trying to escape the hotel. Although Combs has been faced with allegations of abuse for decades, it has never before been proven on camera.
CNN was able to obtain the clip of the most recent abuse allegations from the hotel’s cameras. Cassie filed a lawsuit against Combs earlier this year claiming the abuse and won a settlement out of court. In 2001, Combs was acquitted on gun and bribery charges after a long trial. The trail resulted from a nightclub shooting. A woman was shot in the face but survived, although she was severely injured.
According to the New York Times, Combs’ attorneys said a lawsuit accusing him of taking part in a rape in 2003 had singlehandedly damaged Combs’ reputation. And a lawsuit accusing Combs of making unwanted sexual contact with a male music producer has allegedly gotten all these allegations started.
Combs was seen as a warm father, an entertainer who enjoyed a good party, a person who gives back to the community through nonprofit charitable organizations and a role model for a lot of business owners who came after him.
The Me-Too Movement has apparently proven to show the true face of a man who once hid behind the mask of camera flashes.
