MSA hosts World Hijab Day at Richland

In El Paso Hall’s Student Lounge, there was a recent celebration for World Hijab Day at the first concert cafe of the spring semester. The event was hosted on Feb. 7 by the Muslim Student Association, or MSA, to celebrate the Muslim holiday. The Muslim Student Association had an interactive presentation to allow people to see if a certain food was Hiram or not. Amatullah Janine Scott has been interested in fashion since she was a child. That interest let to the launch of the Richland Fashion Club. Scott said was inspired to start the club after researching similar clubs that originated at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM). One of the members of the Richland club is Je’Qwell Grimes, who has been a member for four months and is pursuing a science degree. Grimes decided to join the club because of his interest in fashion and his desire to participate as a way be more active and meet people.

Dallas College provides many students with resources and helps students from all walks of life. For students looking to add more substance to their lives, there are clubs on Richland Campus like the Philosophy Club or organizations like the Male Achievement Program. These help students looking to find friends or more opportunistic spaces to be in. They are open to all students at Richland, and many students find their calling through them.
