Feb. 1 was National Signing Day at high schools and community colleges across the country. National Signing Day marks the deadline set by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) that officially binds athletes to play for a university team. Three Thunderducks from soccer teams, (one from the women’s team and two from the men’s team) signed with different but distinguished colleges. Both the men’s team and women’s soccer teams have seen success during the fall semester.
In particular, the men’s team became national champions by winning the NJCAA Division III championship for a sixth time in the club’s history.
Sergio Lara, with a leading number of goals scored, signed with Midwestern State University. Mikkel Rohde was national player of the year and committed to the University of Kentucky. On the women’s team, Sam Scott decided to play as a Lion for Texas A&M Commerce.
