With St. Patrick’s Day approaching on March 17, Dallas is far from short on ways to celebrate. From parades to block parties, the city offers a packed lineup of events throughout the weekend. To make planning easier, here are five of the top places to visit for St. Patrick’s Day festivities in Dallas.
Lower Greenville Block Party
Located in the heart of Lower Greenville, the annual block party returns on March 14, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with participating bars remaining open until 2 a.m.
The event features live music, drinks, food and entertainment. The celebration is 21 and older, with a $20 cash-only admission fee. Eight local bars are participating, including The Dubliner, Stan’s Blue Note, Dodie’s Reef and Terilli’s.
Gillespie’s Tavern at The Shire
For those looking to combine food and live entertainment, Gillespie’s Tavern at The Shire, located near Shire Boulevard and President George Bush Turnpike, will host live music all weekend. Beginning March 13, the tavern will feature at least one Irish band each night. The celebration continues on St. Patrick’s Day, when Gillespie’s will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. with rotating entertainment scheduled throughout the day.
Lochland’s Irish Pub
For a more traditional Irish pub atmosphere, Lochland’s Irish Pub offers live music and Irish dancers throughout the weekend, extending into Monday and Tuesday. Located at Plano Road and Northwest Parkway, Lochland’s is known for its Guinness and Irish cuisine. The pub is also the sister location of Dallas staple The Dubliner.
Dallas St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival
Now in its 45th year, the Dallas St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival takes place March 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The parade begins at 11 a.m. on Blackwell Street and travels down Greenville Avenue, ending at SMU Boulevard. The festival also includes the St. Paddy’s Day Dash 5K, which starts at 8 a.m. The event is open to all ages and will feature numerous local vendors.
The Dubliner
Situated along the parade route at Greenville Avenue and Goodwin Avenue, The Dubliner is a popular stop for paradegoers. As Dallas’ longest-running Irish pub, it offers a traditional Irish pub environment and has been featured on multiple local “best of” lists over the past decade. The pub will host live music and Irish dancers throughout the weekend, making it a consistent destination for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
