The State Fair of Texas is right around the corner, offering many new foods and rides for its visitors to enjoy. A media-only event was held on Sept. 16 at the fairgrounds to showcase the unique food items and beverages that will be available the fair.
Callie Huber, who manages concessions at the state fair, said the purpose of the media-only food tasting event was to “gain publicity by introducing new concepts, rebranded booths and to get people more excited about the fair.”
Huber said, “Many people go to the fair just for the food, so vendors make sure they think outside the box with their flavors, ensuring that they won’t be able to get this food anywhere else.” Having around 260 food stands, the state fair is a place for families and creative cooks to share their culture and passion with the world.
According to Huber, the State Fair of Texas staff has been planning and organizing its pre-fair events for the previous eight months. The last two months before the long awaited first day of the fair, however, is where all the magic happens.
The 75 exhilarating rides and game booths, 300 craft and jewelry vendors, and hundreds of food recipes are finalized and brought into fairgrounds to begin being constructed and set up for the 24-day long event. Many of the famous rides that make the State Fair are brought in from carnivals and fairs in other states.
