Bigdásh is a buzzing hotspot for your favorite Middle Eastern desserts. This spot has been popular for some time among Richland students, thanks to its convenient proximity to the school, but it has quickly ramped up with business.
With recent attention toward one of their new desserts, the Dubai chocolate strawberry cups, Bigdásh has brought in many more people in search of the viral craze. However, these popular strawberries are not the only thing Bigdásh has to offer. Everything from baklava to stretchy ice cream to coffee and tea can be found here.
On Jan. 24, we went to Bigdásh in Richardson to indulge in the well-hyped desserts. We tried the strawberry shortcake, banana hazelnut crepes, tres leches cake, classic pistachio baklava, cookie butter chocolate and the Turkish coffee shake. We thoroughly enjoyed every item we purchased.
First off, we tried the tres leches cake. This item easily took the cake for our favorite dessert (pun intended). This cake was very soft and creamy, with a delicious caramel top. It packs immense flavor, which is partially why it is our top dessert.
Next, we tried the banana hazelnut crepes. These crepes were soft, chewy and a bit thicker than other crepes tried. The bananas were fresh and complimented the hazelnut spread well.
The portion was large, with the perfect amount of hazelnut spread and white chocolate sauce on top. This would be a great option for anyone looking for a sweet, yet filling breakfast.
After the crepes, we tried the cookie butter chocolate bar. This bar is a twist on the viral Dubai chocolate bar. It is filled with cookie butter and kataifi and coated in white chocolate. This chocolate bar is very rich with a noticeable crunch to it. We both enjoyed this item and expect to buy it again on our next visit.
The next item was the newest for us both. The Turkish coffee shake caught us off guard at first as it has a very rich and spicy flavor. The shake ended up being the lowest on our list of items, but we would still recommend it to those who like to explore new foods.
Next, we tried the pistachio baklava. This baklava was not too sticky or chewy, making it very nice to eat. The baklava was a perfect balance of sweet and savory that made for a great combined flavor. The final item we tried was the strawberry cake. It tied in taking the cake with the tres leches cake for our favorite dessert. The cake is super light and soft and matches well with the light whipped cream icing. The use of jam in the cake gave it a wonderful flavor, tasting like real strawberries as opposed to artificial.
The overall experience at Bigdásh was exceptional. Out of all the items, there was not a single one we did not enjoy. The only rating scale we could base them off was on how much more we liked another item.
Each dish had its own unique flavor that was executed wonderfully to customers’ tastes. Outside the dishes, the service was great, with the workers being very kind and helpful when picking out what to order.
The restaurant itself has comfortable seating and a comforting vibe, making it a perfect place to study, or just grab a bite on the way to campus.
