New Year’s resolutions are as varied as the people who make them, but they all share one thing in common: hope for a better year ahead.
Across Dallas College, students are setting goals to improve their lives by reflecting personal priorities and dreams for 2025.
“I’m finally going to travel,” said Lena Martinez, a graphic design student.
“I’ve been saving for years, and this is the year I want to explore Europe. No more excuses.”
For some, the resolutions are less about adventure and more about discipline.
“I’m really determined to stop procrastinating,” said business student Arianna Carranza. “Whether it’s studying or honestly just replying to texts, I want to stop putting everything on hold by watching TikTok and start getting things done right away.”
Others are focused on reconnecting with themselves. “2024 was to me all about surviving,” said Reema Patela, a computer science major.
“I want to focus on being happy next year. I’m setting boundaries and I’m making time for my own happiness and self care.”
Financial goals also made the list. “I want to be smarter with money,” said accounting student Jordan Hill.
“I’ve started budgeting and learning about investing, but my resolution is to actually stick with it and grow my savings.”
Health was another priority for many. “I want to run a half marathon,” said Eric Marciel, a political science major.
“I don’t know why but I feel like I want to prove to myself that I can accomplish something big.”
On a campus full of diverse ambitions, the new year serves as a reminder of the universal desire for growth and change.
Each resolution is a step toward a changed 2025.
