As the fall semester wrapped up, Richland embraced the season of transition with events designed to help students prepare for the holidays.
At a “Cookies and Crayons” workshop on Dec. 4, students spent an afternoon painting while picking up tips for staying balanced during the often-hectic holiday season. The activity was a chance to pause and recharge.
“I didn’t think I’d have time for this, but I’m so glad I came,” said Emily Natashka, a business student. “It was really calming to just paint and not think about everything I had to do.”
Later, Fannin Hall hosted a concert featuring soft, relaxing tunes performed by student musicians. The atmosphere and peaceful music created the perfect backdrop for looking ahead to the break.
“It was exactly what I needed,” said Jordan Peters, a music major. “The music was so relaxing. I have heavy finals next week, so this was the perfect way to hit pause for a moment.”
Throughout finals week, the Office of Student Life and Engagement is offering activities to ease the transition. Snacks, games and music will help students move from the demands of the semester to the joys of winter break.
“That’s what I love about this campus the most. There’s always something going on at El Paso to help students enjoy their time,” said Elly Marciella, an aerospace engineering student. “It’s a good way to wrap up the semester, too, and start thinking about what’s next.”
