While VPNs might sound like a way to access your favorite streaming sites or keep up with the latest viral TikToks, they come with serious consequences on campus.
Dallas College recently clarified its stance: Using personal VPNs, proxies and encrypted messaging services — like ExpressVPN, NordVPN, or Telegram — is against its Computer Use Policy. Not only does this interfere with the security systems, it’s also seen as a way to sidestep the college’s network safeguards.
This isn’t just a slap on the wrist either. If caught, you could face repercussions like losing access to online resources, resetting your college account password or even having your campus device restricted from network access.
VPNs might offer privacy, but when it comes to the campus network, they’re off-limits.
