Located in a vibrant and quiet area beyond Dallas, where it meets Fort Worth, the Worthington Renaissance Hotel hosts a unique attraction: a rooftop cinema club. The theater highlights films from a wide range of genres, including movies from the early 1900s to the 2000s.
It offers visitors a nostalgic experience, screening childhood classics that bring back memories without making you feel out of touch with time. They also have screening events where they cater to all types of people from family friendly, dog lovers and even singles only screening.
The cinema allows guests who arrive early to enjoy the atmosphere with games to play and provides comfortable seats and tables.
The cinema is well-managed, with friendly staff members, though the ticket prices are on the higher side, costing $30 per person, before snacks and drinks.
One of the unique aspects of the theater is that each guest receives their own headset to listen to the movie, providing a more immersive experience.
The rooftop setting adds charm, but it comes with a minor downside: mosquitoes. Bug spray is recommended to avoid discomfort.
As for the food, the nachos were a highlight—slightly oversized and pricey—but worth it for the portion, which was large enough for two people.
The film shown that evening was the 2004 comedy “White Chicks.” The movie, directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, stars Marlon and Shawn Wayans as two FBI agents who, after a failed drug bust, are forced to escort two socialites to the Hamptons. In a twist of events, they end up disguising themselves as the sisters to prevent a kidnapping. The film was lighthearted, funny, and provided plenty of laughs, making it a perfect choice for a casual movie night.
The Worthington Renaissance Hotel Rooftop Cinema Club offers a delightful experience, ideal for enjoying with friends, family or a significant other. Despite the slight issues with headsets and the presence of mosquitoes, the overall ambiance and food make it worth a visit. I would return for another movie night.
